4 SIMPLE TIPS FOR A NUTRIENT-DENSE DIET IN A BUSY LIFE

Vegetables prepped in Tupperware

You read that right, I’m not doing a meal prep this week. With travels and projects, my time is super limited.

And, I see this awareness as my super power, you should too.

Your awareness is your super power. It allows you to strategize in a way that actually benefits you.

The reality is that I don’t have time for cooking and meal prep every week, and in order for that to not interrupt my ability to cultivate health and move towards my goals, I’ve had to find other strategies.

Here are my top 4 tips for supporting a nutrient dense diet that stabilizes blood sugar so I can support my health even while I’m limited on time.

  1. Make extra of anything you DO cook. If you make dinner one night, make double or even triple so you have it for another 1-3 meals in the week.

  2. Think in whole foods. And think quick to cut, heat, pull apart…

    • Proteins: Rotisserie Chicken, Eggs, Chicken Sausages, Salmon Lox, Tuna, Shrimp, plain Greek yogurt, etc

    • Carbs: quality bread products, rice/quinoa quick cooking packets, beans, rice cakes, oats, fruits, etc

    • Non - starchy veggies: Greens, bell pepper, mushrooms, asparagus, etc

    • Fats: nuts/nut butter, cheese, seeds, hummus, avocado, chia, ground flax, oils, ghee/grassfed butter, etc

      • Mix, match, combine

  3. Cook a few staples in batches. This week I cut and bakes spaghetti squash and carnival squash. I also made 2lbs of chicken, buffalo cauliflower, and baked lemon salmon - all were done at the same time and made it a true 15 minutes of cutting and while it was baking, I was doing other things.

  4. Sheet pan, Air fryer or Pressure cook it! Three simple strategies that take a fraction of the time. This way while it’s cooking you can be doing other things and the initial prep is minuscule simply throw ingredients in and go. For example, chop veggies, put on sheet pan and go. Or throw eggs or chicken in pressure cooker and voila!

  5. Buy precut/precooked/frozen/canned.
